The history of Porsche starts in 1931 with the company operating as a consulting firm rather than a manufacturer. The first car Porsche produced was the well known Volkswagen. After WWII, its was the 356 that was to be the first sports car Porsche would produce. The 356 went through several evolutionary changes to make it more sporty. Then in the mid-60’s Porsche developed the 911 which featured the larger six cylinder boxer engine. Since the 1960’s Porsche has designed and developed other such iconic models as the 912, 914, 924, 944 and many others.
